Behold Christ there upon the cross.
The law cries “Guilty, He must die!”
Yet, was He not the spotless lamb?
Is not the wretched sinner I?
Yes, so it is. But can it be
That God, the righteous, dies as me?
How marvelous this plan of God:
That we, in Christ, have been set free!

So shall we then remain in sin,
So God may better show His grace?
It cannot be! For when Christ died,
Death (sin’s result) was then erased.
Part of this death was further sin—
God let us hasten far therein.
But now, through Christ, death is removed!
We must and can now live to Him.

Our life is hidden now with Christ.
He will remain our living Head.
Therefore enslave yourself to God.
Regard yourself, to sin, as dead.
Alive in Him, how can it be?
Did God, the righteous, die for me?
How marvelous this plan of God:
That we, in Christ, have been set free!
